Seminar for Strategies in Responding to Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act and how to Prepare for a Highly Personalized Data Environment

The Ministry of Justice promulgated a draft for the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act on 27 October, indicating that the new law will be coming into action soon.
Article 13 of the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act states that: "Notification may be provided in the form of printed document, telephone, facsimile, electronic documents, or other appropriate methods." Although regulations governing the method of notification have been loosened, the business owner must provide evidence that they have provided the necessary notification. Hence, evidence retention is a key task for any corporate IT department. Article 5 of the Enforcement Rules also states that: Personal information files consist of backup files and audit trails. Audit trails refer to any derivative data (or log files) generated during the collection, processing, and utilization of personal information, where the said derivative data is not part of the original personal information collected. This is an important change since this is the first time that audit trail has been included within the scope of personal information protection.
Rapid developments in the Internet usage meant that customer perusal and usage of corporate website in conducting searches or transactions is becoming more common. Being able to identify product preferences and key trends will allow the business to provide customer with real-time information, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen the company's knowledge base.
